Title: Valkyrie film will have P-40s !!! Post by: Vince_M on December 11, 2008, 11:26:34 PM I saw the ads for the new Tom Cruise film, Valkyrie, and I saw a short bit obviously from North Africa.
The planes had red spinners... so I did a little hunting and discovered that there were two P-40s used in the filming of the N. Africa scenes! Steve Hinton and his brother, John, did the flying out in California. I hope the scenes are good ones! Vince Title: Re: Valkyrie film will have P-40s !!! Post by: Vince_M on December 18, 2008, 04:43:52 AM I saw another preview last night on TV.
There was another short glimpse of a P-40 with guns blazing in the commercial. It appeared to be a shark-mouth paint scheme, perhaps like 112 Squadron RAF. I will try to find it on youtube or somewhere and post the link... Title: Re: Valkyrie film will have P-40s !!! Post by: Vince_M on January 04, 2009, 11:06:20 AM I've seen the movie and it's not bad.
The P-40 attack scene is right at the beginning of the film. The shots are generally quick and from a distance. However, it is so nice to see the Warhawk getting some screen time again ( and really blowing the heck out of the Germans) !!!! Title: Re: Valkyrie film will have P-40s !!! Post by: Mark Joyce on January 05, 2009, 05:05:07 AM One of the P-40s used in the movie is based at the Planes of Fame museum in Chino, CA. It's an 'N' model that was painted in a North African scheme that appears loosely based on 112 Sqn. Here are a couple photographs of the plane, still retaining the markings:
