Title: Red Tails movie trailer
Post by: Vince_M on August 01, 2011, 03:12:20 AM
Looks like George Lucas is finally getting his movie made about the Tuskegee airmen!

Here's a link to the trailer and their P-40 days appear to be part of it!
However, looks like they used Allison powered versions, I suppose due to availability of current examples.

Can't wait until January 2012!

I know there has been some criticism about the movie on other forums because it isn't 100% historically accurate (what movie is?), but it looks like good entertainment.  More importantly, hopefully it will generate more interest in not only the Tuskegee airmen but WWII in general.

I'm guessing the use of Allison P-40s is due more to ignorance than a lack of availability of Merlin P-40s.  It appears from the trailer that most of the P-40s are computer generated....as are the other airplanes.

Saw the film!
It wasn't the best movie I've ever seen but was entertaining nonetheless.
If you love P-40s you need to go.  There are a lot of CGI combat scenes.
Fortunately there's no P-40 criticism except that they were war-weary hand-me-downs.
