I remember seeing this great lady at Duxford.

She is a real gem, they certainly did a great restoration on her.

Excellent post Admin.

Hello gentlemen, good to see new members.

I too am an avid P40 fan, my place is full of models of the good old P40.

Very difficult to answer that one.

Do we deprive future generations of seeing and hearing the beauty of these old warbirds or do we keep them flying.

To see and hear a P40, Spitfire, Corsair etc in the air, is an unforgettable experience, so in my view keep them flying.

Maybe we should clone them all and fly the clones, not as silly as that may sound, you can if you have the money, buy a new Spitfire!
Me 262, FW190 new builds are out there.

When I heard the news that this gorgeous P40 was going back home I was very dismayed.

But then I thought to myself , well at least I have had the pleasure of seeing this historic lady in the air many times, now its time for the old girl to go back home where she should be.
The folks over the pond can now enjoy the sight and sound of a real majestic lady cruising the skies of its homeland.

Look after her guys, she is a beauty.
20  P-40 Warhawk Forums / General Discussion / Re: P-40 tool question on: January 26, 2014, 01:48:51 AM
Interesting, its what is known this side of the pond as "a thing of purpose"!

I have working in engineering all my life and have often adapted tools to help get into hard to reach places, that said this tool looks like a purpose built wrench, probably by Curtis.

In any case its a cool thing to own, anything with P40 stamped on it has to be cool.

I really enjoyed the photo's, it looks like you had a wonderful day.

The Sea fury and the Ryan certainly stand out for me.

Thank you posting, excellent camera work.

Another excellent build in progress.

Flawless joint lines too and those masks have indeed worked out very well. Cool

He must have had a bad mis fire in his engine to call it Ping Pang. Cheesy

If I can find the patience I really must try to build myself a nice P40, the diecast P40s have sadly dried up now, I think I have all of them so it looks like the only way forward is to get back into kit building.

I just wonder whether my old eyes and shaking hands are up to the task.

I have heard that the pilots remains have been found not far from the plane, I have not been able to confirm this news but it seems to be correct.

One more tragedy of war.

Excellent info Mark and much appreciated.
Its always good to hear what the pilots that flew the P40 thought about the plane.
It is and always will be to me, one of the unsung heroes of the air.

Any more information would be very welcome. Cool

29  P-40 Warhawk Forums / General Discussion / Re: P40, help with book selections. on: April 05, 2011, 07:56:28 AM
I am sorry to be late with my reply, first I must thank you all for the excellent advice.
I now have a great list of books to hunt down and add to my collection.

Its great to see that there are folks here that really do appreciate what a tough and agile little plane the P40 was. Cool

I have always been full of admiration for this unsung hero of the sky, it was a godsend for us Brits in the desert campaign and without doubt made a major contribution to the victory.

Once again many thanks to for all the valuable information gentlemen , it will keep me quiet for a long while. Cheesy
