The owner of the aviation museum called "Fantasy of Flight" out of Kissimmee Florida has a TP-40, if you look up the museum they may be able to help you with the information on it.
Or if you know what training unit or AAF Field it was out of try googling that on the net.

I don't know if you've come across this site but I think it would be useful in your search,
ArmyAirForces.com

They have a very large group of knowledgeable people, try a posting there, also you might want to try one of the Air Commando units for this set up, try googling one of these 2nd,3rd,or 4th ACG.

Good luck!

Much thanks for posting the photos of the memorail plaque about Capt.Hampshire and the airport named for him, it is always good to see that people such as he are not forgotten for what they did for us during WW2, and I am glad you posted the photos as I didn't know of this memorial ! Those boys were a special bunch and I got to meet some of the AVG boys a few years back and it was an honor to be able to talk with them and get photos/autographs of them, it really brings to life the stories I've read of thier exploits and missions !!!
All of them and all the other veterans of WW2 are "The Greatest Generation" !!!!!!!!

Hello, like the American Units the lettering on the fuselage of an aircraft like GM/D was so you could know what Squadron it was with, if you have book/s on RAF aircraft look for the same letters "GM" on other P-40's and the photo may tell you what unit it is, or try a RAF site and see if it is shown there. the letter "D" would be for the individual aircraft "call letter" so someone in the same unit could tell them hey "D" you have a Zero on your 6  !

I hope this helps you some!

Good looking P-40 there, is that "Holdin my Own" on the tail?  I'm a nose art and unit emblem nut and it looks like that one.
Keep up the good work and glad you found the site!

Hello,it's my understanding that the 32nd Pursuit/Fighter Squadron of the 36th group used P-40 at one time,I am in need of anyone who can help me with an emblem design "Supposed" to be of this Squadron,it depicts a man w/wings flying between two coluds, one dark one light,he is holding in each hand a metal workers type of hammer and there are several lightning bolts around the design, one behind man ,one from hammers, all on a round ringed border, I would VERY MUCH like to find information and details to this emblem,it's use and any photos of it in aircraft, signs etc,if you have any knowledge of this or know anyone who can help ,PLEASE contact me at my e mail,Thank you VERY much !!!!!!      Johnny Signor      WeBeEmblems@aol.com
