I guess this  is a good sampling of what the plane looks like. We flew it for the first time. it was definatley a heavy plane and had the same tendencies as the full scale aircraft. Care must be taken when turning, it sure wants to fall out of a turn if not done correctly. I was thrilled to see it fly finally. I hope to have it at Top Gun in 2010 along with my 1/5 Scale BT-13 I will be starting on soon.

I recently took my 1/5 scale P-40 to get pictures of it with a full scale P-40 at Sun n Fun here in Florida. I got there early but not early enough. As we arrived, we found the pilot there and ready to start the engine. He gave it a couple tries, the engine turned over but wouldnt start. He asked me to turn the prop to get it on the magneto and I did, it started that time and off he went into the sunrise. I thought I would share a few of the pictures i was able to get. I at least was able to get my truck into the picture.
I have always enjoyed taking aviation related pictures, if anyone is interested, I have many posted at the following link. They span from the mid 20s to now. Almost all were taken by my grandfather or myself of anything from WW1 era DH-4s to F-16s.

I am currently building a 1/5 scale P-40. There are many things that could have been done better and many more details that could have been included but what is shown is what I was able and willing to incorperate. It is not painted yet but hopefully it will be by the end of the month. I plan on having it on Static display at the MacDill Air Force Base Airfest at the end of march.

Hello, I am no expert on the P-40 or specifically the P-40B but after going thru the pictures of P-40B's in the Squadron /Signal publications Walkaround of the P-40 I didnt see any formation lights on the wingtips, vertical stab or on the side of the fuselage like the P-40E had.

Excellent! Thank you very much for the picture. I just finished making the tiedown loop on the main gear, now I can keep going making the gear even more scale.
Thanks Again, Denny

Hello,P-40 enthusiasts,
I am building a 1/5 scale P-40E and have become a bit obsessed with details. I need close-up images of the antenna connection just aft of the mast and where it enters the fuselage. I could also use a clear picture of the data plate on the main gear strut. I would greatly appreciate any help with this.
Thanks, Denny

PS, If anyone is interested, I ahve posted pictures and text at this site.

Hello, I am building a 1/5 scale radio controlled P-40E. I want to include as many details as possible. I would like to find pictures and dimensions for the data plates on the outside of the plane. If anyone has or has acces to get pictures and dimensions of the plates, I would greatly appreciate the help.
I have seen pictures on David Hansens P-40E and it has many of the data plates still installed. they all appear to be the same size and so far I have seen them on the vertical stab on the right side, on the wings, flaps and inside behind the transparencies behind the canopy. I have the P-40 walkaround but there are no pictures clear enough for me to scan or otherwise reproduce in 1/5 scale.
Thanks, Denny
