Dear Mark and p-40 boys,

The work so far, is only the 3% of the total result. Be patient. Many surprises will boost your interest.

I'm a Mechanical engineer...and engines are always my babies!!!

The cockpit is lowered (i trusted Vintage and I messed up). I was socked when my floor was 1" higher the wing!!!
I had to rebuild all the floor and backside from the beginning, thats why I was late.



Here are the Cockpit's side walls



and the cockpit area in a dry fit test before assembled....







Of course nothing of Vintage Kit is used so far (except the 2 halfs of the fuselage). Everything you see is scratched.


The whole construction is dedicated to you guys!! For all of you who love this bird!

I noticed the wrong usual drawings of the gunbays panels on wing top!! I couldn't understand if the drawings were correct or not compared to real pictures...

Great guideline for everybody who wants to be accurate!!!

FUSELAGE INTERIOR

Hi guys, this is my newest update.



I began building the tail wheel, according to drawings



Next coming where the modifications at rudder, and control mechanisms.

Thank you guys,

Here is my next update

RUDDER



The VFS P-40's Rudder is a disaster! I had no choice. Make a new one. Filling the rudder with putty, is not the best thing you can do, but it is the only way to make it seems like a rudder. I decided to build it from the beginning.

Here is the VFS rudder and beside at right the plastic sheet i used.



10 thin evergreen rods were placed on the surface. I sand them enough.
 


Next step...Cast Vinyl wrapping, and aluminum



After 2 days of work on metal, i managed to give the shapes. Surfacer covered the rudder.



and READY....

ELEVATORS & AILERONS




By the same way I built the rudder, elevators and ailerons were constructed easily.



For the tail wings, I used aluminum foil, and copper. Its a very difficult procedure because I had to place its time a riveted panel by panel. The result is very realistic, and all the plane will be wrapped by the same way!





NEXT PART concerns the fuselage finishing.

PS. Where can i find an original picture (black n white) of the specific plane? (Taylor's or G. Welch??) or the ACCURATE PROFILE of this?

Here comes the final part of Section -01-

FUSELAGE'S FINAL CONSTRUCTION


At first I decided to rebuild the instrument panel. Once again, I was not pleased using Eduard's Bezels, so I followed my method, for sure.

Aluminum sheet, laminated instrument panel's print out etc.



The final result. I think its much better than previous one.


My next step concerns the inspection side door. According to real images, using Aluminum and copper the result is this one:





Finishing with these small items, I made a new windscreen and its basement from the beginning. A difficult construction. But after a few days of hard work the result is better than I expected.





After that, I finished with my new Canopy. I decided to open the left urgent window. I added the central top nerve on the canopy (is missing from Vintage's canopy)



A new firewall was necessary. Look the Kit's one....



As far as you Know, the Kit has no riveted fuselage, many main lines are missing.
According to some serious profiles, I riveted ALL the fuselage panel by panel, wrapping her with aluminum foil.

Some extra details are added such a new fuel riveted tank, Fuel caps etc.













My next part concerns SECTION 02 (WINGS)
1. Wheel Wells
2. Main Weels
3. Wing Gun bay
4. Wrapping
5. Fuselage Guns.
6. Flaps (from Cammett)

SECTION B' wings

Part -01/B-

WHEEL WELLS

Lets start today from the wheel wells.

The first thing i did, was a 2mm of raising of the main wheel wall. (only the inner side).

Here you can see the cuttings of the gun bays, and the modification of the wheel wells.





Although the simplicity of their construction, I spent 3 days of making these.
