Hello all. I'm a newbie here so I'll introduce myself. I'm 65 years old and have been a avid military aviation fan and modeler for over 50 years. I recently retired so now I have ample model building time, etc.
I have a question I hope someone here can answer. When did Curtis start painting the seats in P-40's? I know the E's had unpainted seats but what about the M's? I am particularly interested in the M as I am currently build the Hasegawa 1/32 kit. As far as I can determine the N's had painted seats but I'm just nor sure about the M's.
Thanks in advance for your help.

John

It was bare aluminum, they didn't start painting the seat until the N, I am assuming because some used the aluminum seat, others a plywood seat and that would have needed to be painted.

Wasn't the "N" unique in that some of them had plywood thus painted seats?
I need to go check my references.
